More Bad News For Ralph Nader It seem that Nader did not get the Green Party's endorsement. Nader then insulted the Green Party by calling them "strange." He also has broke the law by having 501C4 corporations (run by Republicans) help him get on the Oregon ballot.
  • :O
  • Ralph Nader has been consumed by his ego. Ralph Nader has become a Pinto of a man.
  • He seems to be getting more press this time around, and will certainly get less votes. Sort of like a Ben Affleck movie.
  • bernockle, are you saying you didn't like Reindeer Games?
  • TwoMinutesHateFilter
  • A vote for Kerry is a vote for Bush. :p
  • A vote for Kerry is a vote for Bush. This is entirely too ironic for me to get it at all.
  • And so what if it rained on my wedding day? I'm not bitte!
  • Perhaps Wedge meant (as is often claimed) a vote for Nader is a vote for Bush. This is often claimed because the shnootzes who refuse to vote don't get embroiled in these discussions. As for Nader, I'm glad the Greens turned their back on him. After all, when he first announced his run, he turned his back on them. So he started it.
  • Perhaps Wedge meant (as is often claimed) a vote for Nader is a vote for Bush. This is often claimed because the shnootzes who refuse to vote don't get embroiled in these discussions. It's amazing how many people I meet that don't read newspapers, but supported the Iraq war (because Saddam attacked the WTC) and Nader because he's against the man. Also, civil libertarians seem to love Nader. Funny, considering that Nader supports higher taxes and is clueless on national security.
  • That saddens me, saddens me more than a sack full of kittens trying to play on the expressway. Why not just put Nader, that shambling wreck of a once-great man, out to pasture? Eventually even the best racehorses are put out to stud. Or sent to the glue factory.
  • Seems that Nader can't get on the ballot in Florida because he needs 93,000 signatures. He is going to need a party and the Greens won't take him.
  • Why not just put Nader, that shambling wreck of a once-great man, out to pasture? It is sad. But why can't he be content doing excellent work as a consumer advocate? The world has too many bloody politicians. We need more advocates like him. Or like he was.
  • Ah. That explains it. Good link homunculus.
  • Actually, I was trying to point out the absurdity of saying "a vote for X is a vote for Y". And it's almost self-fulfilling, in a way. A vote for X is a vote for X, folks. At any rate... nothing like a few good ad hominems and a "character" debate to help us avoid any real, relevant, and substantive discussion of policy issues and differences. Is there something in Nader's platform, specifically, that any of you find troubling? ("Higher taxes" is a total mischaracterization, i.e., the same could be said of Kerry.) Or are you just pissed off because you want one of the uninspiring centrist guys to win? He offers a viable alternative for both disenfranchised Republicans and progressive Democrats that supported Sharpton, Kucinich, et al. When BushII wanted to start dropping bombs, Kerry, The Most Liberal Democrat in the Senate™ pulls a Lieberman and grabs his ankles. Jerry Falwell, Lyndon LaRouche, and Carrot Top also share the credential, "Not Bush"... but that's never a good reason to give anyone a free pass. Nader more accurately reflects my political leanings, and Kerry has yet to *earn* my vote. And Sully, I'd be willing to bet that Nader supporters (at least from '00) are more well-read than Kerry supporters, on the whole. I, personally, don't support him just because he is against "the man", but that helps. I got the chance to meet him a couple years ago. He is a lot taller than I thought. (Maybe 6'0"?)Taller than me, at least. And he's not as sexy as a Kennedy. But who cares? Are we electing an Alpha Male or a President? Oh. Okay, nevermind. So I talked to Nader for maybe 10 minutes. His seemed like it was on straight, he is very intelligent; sharp, and he was nice. He is like a policy wonk savant. Mild Asperger's would explain a lot. He's no crook, though.
  • ack... I meant, "His head seemed like it was screwed on straight..." At any rate, you guys should really read through the FAQ at VoteNader.org to at least get Nader's side of the story... which "the media" tends to neglect.
