Miniatures of the Cities of the World
I love the detail in the NYC and Tokyo miniatures. Why visit when you can build it?

At some point, when I was a kid, I saw a feature on TV about some artists who'd built a model, much like these ones, of Montreal. The TV program said that they'd put it on display in a Montreal metro station, and I longed to go and see it. Years later I visited Montreal and dragged my girlfriend all through the metro system in a fruitless search for the amazing city model. Several people claimed to have seen it, but I think they were just trying to get rid of us. They always said it was in another station. After some time, countless Montrealers, as well as my girlfriend, thought I was a raving lunatic.

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

These are amazing, and I'm awed by the vastness of Tokyo. I really like the transparent WTC in New York. That's what those designers should do - giant plexiglass towers! Or not...

Hey you can see my apartment from the midtown NYC map!

Wow, great find Vaca Pinter. I love these sorts of models. That Tokyo one was just incredible. One of my favorite models in in Mexico, at the museum at Teotihuacan, outside Mexico city. One of the rooms is devoted to a model of what the city looked like at its height. Here are a few pictures, sorry for the awful quality. 1 and 2.

Augh, I can't get any of the images to display. Does this make me a bad person that I simply want to don a Godzilla suit and smash about their perceived miniature beauty?
