I think 'tis really a large wodge of cash clip, SideDish. Believe a beer clip happens when: 1) the barmaid kisses ye on the ear. Or 2) some bottle-weary blackguard swings a rigid container of brew against your skull.

I used to give spatulas to drinking mates after we watched Once Were Warriors. Opening your bottle with a spatula is so hardcore.

My guess is that the average person who would be interested in owning such an item would not have much use for the clip feature.
