RIP David Huffman David Huffman, a mathematician who died in 1999, developed a fascinating method of geometric paper folding which emphasizes curves rather than straight lines. (He also did some nifty work involving data compression.) [3rd link NY Times, reg reqd]
  • Nice Links!! (specially the second one) )))
  • You'd say paper can't do that, but [Huffman]'d just say you just don't know paper well enough. Only wish there were more illustrations of his work. Fine post, jaypro22. [Old saying: Straight is the line of duty, curved is the line of beauty.]
  • Holy Moley!
  • Yes thanks for the link. I'm familiar with his name with regard to data compression but I had no idea of the scope of his work. Elegant is the only word that comes close to adequately summing it up.
  • Those are very beautiful.
  • Great links! Thanks!
