Oh, this is much fun. Schoolchildren illustrate idioms, drawing pictures of "a bee in her bonnet," "a hill of beans," "a penny for your thoughts." One of my faves: What it looks like to "have a crush on someone." Heh.
  • Cute, SD. My fave is "A Sick Building"...

  • Fun post, SideDish. Kid logic never ceases to astound me.
  • In "Bull in a China Shop", the kid ingeniously spared him/herself the trouble of drawing any china. I love kids' art, and have much niece art on my fridge. One of my favourites is the portrait of me - I have scarlet hair and I'm wearing a teeny weeny skirt.
  • I liked a pack of lies, a sharp tongue, add insult to injury and at stake. Fun stuff, S.D. - thanks!
  • yeah, PF, who would have known that a pack of lies costs $6??
  • Some googling turned up this metafilter thread, with links to Iraqi and Chechen and Spanish [from the Spanish Civil War] children's drawings, oh, and from Rwanda too, and here's some from Turkey, and then there's these, a few pencil drawings from India. Don't want to make everyone all serious or anything, just tangentially related.
  • heh . . the kid was thinking about cheese.
  • I love how on Barrel of Laughs the barrel is labeled and has an arrow.
  • go BC's education system ("idioms are sayings that are idiotic" -- memorable!) I liked A Duke's Mixture (bark).
  • I love how on Barrel of Laughs the barrel is labeled and has an arrow. DrPresAmerica: I laughed out loud when I saw that. I'm a bit confused by this interpretation of "Wino" though.
  • is the stick person on the left "whining" about it? maybe that's it.
  • SideDish: That was my first thought, but the person on the left seems awfully happy to give in to the whining. Of course, this is probably exactly how most kids experience the world: whine and enough and they'll eventually give in. ;)
  • Er, make that "person on the RIGHT".
