Mordechai Vanunu: I squealed on Isreal to prevent nuclear holocaust. He went to the world with details of Israel's nuclear program. He did 18 years in prison for it and doesn't regret a single day. Now he's out and wants to leave his country, but the government has said "no way, Hosea."
  • Israel is run by bad people.
  • As opposed to which country?
  • No country is kind to traitors.
  • naxosaxur and Alnedra have already beaten me too it.
  • Can't he just walk out through the desert into, say, Jordan?
  • Hmm. Spellingfilter? Ok, so pyrrthon1 slipped in sentence one, but so what? The guy nailed it in sentence two. Credit where credit is due. And one right out of two Is a damn sight better than I can do.
  • No disrespect meant to the country. The r-e-a sequence trips off the fingertips more readily than r-a-e. Now back to our normally scheduled thread....
  • It's a pity it wasn't in time to stop Israel selling nukes to aparthied era South Africa.
  • He could, rolypolyman, but since he was already drugged and kidnapped by Mossad in Italy ~18 years ago, after "squealing" to the British press -- and I believe he is still being watched by Mossad very closely -- he is understandably reluctant to break the law. Also, it's worth mentioning that he spent 11.5 *years* in solitary confinement. As a member of the US Campaign to Free Mordechai Vanunu, I'm just happy to see that he's finally OUT. He gets nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize... just about every year. I hope he wins it this time.
  • Hero
  • Man, nuff respect to a dude. He gets my vote for president of the world.
