Curious George: Chicago Meetup?
I'm going home in June to celebrate my best friend's commitment ceremony. I'm wondering how many MoFites are in and around the Chicago area and might be up for a mini-meetup? The only down side is that this would need to happen on June 20, which happens to be Father's Day. Any takers?
Additionally, any Chicago MoFite have dual citizenship with MeFi and willing to make this a cross-site extravaganza?

I'd love to, but I'm not sure I could make it that day. Not to mention, everyone else will be at church, worshipping our Heavenly Father on Sunday! So, I have a better idea... let's all crash the commitment ceremony reception!!!

I'm totally down. That's a Sunday right? Might I suggest The Hopleaf? Yeah, it's down the street from me in Andersonville (Represent!), on the corner of Clark & Foster, but it actually is a pretty cool, laid back bar. Then we could all head back to my place and play some Mario Kart! eh? yeah? anyone? hello?

armaghetto - you read my mind (at least about Hopleaf). My alternative would be Farragut's - but I haven't been in five years, so I don't even know if it's still operational. Wedge - what sect do you belong to worshipping on a Sunday night? i feel unusual - yes, yea we are. Besides I'm traveling 1300 miles, buck up, you can do it.

I belong to the church of not driving my sorry ass three hours from Madison, and then three hours back in the same night. And sober, at that. If it was on a Saturday, I wouldn't be quite such a ding-a-ling about it. But it's all so tempting, because I would actually enjoy smoking myself silly with armaghetto and then laying the smack down with Yoshi.

Call in MoFi on Monday and I'm sure armaghetto will let you crash so long as you keep playing Mario Kart.

Would you consider making it a combined MoFi/Mefi Meetup? (If so, it could use more press on MeTa and maybe a few e-mails, which would be easy to arrange.) I've been looking for an excuse to visit Chicago recently, but it's a bit of a drive and I'd like to see as many folks as possible...
