The Flight Attendant Uniform Museum. Working It at 30,000 Feet.
  • Hmm, you know, you could download these images to flash cards and have a new international airport card game (as there are so many) called "Name That Flight Attendant!" www.uniformfreak.com indeed.
  • that AeroMexico gal looks so winsome... and so does the PSA girl... HEY! WAIT A MINUTE!
  • Cool hobby, and I'm glad to see he got his dream job. The site does kind of hark back to the golden era when the flight attendant's job was focused primarily on passenger comfort, rather than utilitarian and crowd-control purposes. If I had his hobby I think I would have stopped collecting the uniforms sometime around 1985.
  • I've no idea what Rutaca Airlines is or where they go, but they definitely have the coolest uniform. What is with all the scarves? I guess I'm just not a Chanel-type scarf person...
  • Allegheny wins (the United uniforms from 1968 come in a close second). I'd probably wear those around town. Really. Maybe without the hat. The stuff from the 80's and after is just depressing. What makes a company decide to drop their brightly colored Pucci suits and go with utterly boring, boxy navy? If not being objectified means a girl has to dress in a wretched sport coat, I want no part of it.
  • Some of the UTA uniforms are delightfully casual looking. But how practical an almost floor length dress with floppy sleeves and ruffles would be in sliding down an escape chute or serving trays seems debatable. Pantsuits, or slacks for stewardesses or air hostesses or whatever seem like they'd be far more practical than the dresses and skirts. But I guess practicality isn't an over-riding concern here. The brighter colours are far more pleasant -- navy blue is an awfully authoritarian colour, but maybe that's the idea. My choice, I suppose, is the Aer Lingus collection, which seem to combine casual looking civilian styling with a more tailored and coordinated look. Something there is in me that loathes uniforms.
  • Mohawk gets my vote. They have a cool name and the uniform is sexy! We hatessss pinafores...
  • If I were allowed into the US, I'd probably want to chase babywanna in her cute uniform all around NYC. But I'm not allowed, so never fear. Apparently it's all part of the war on tourism.
