One man and his vasectomy Quite simply, a website tracking the progress of a man having a vasectomy operation. (Some images not safe for work)

What do other people think of vasectomies? Do you think that they're fine to have or would you have doubt in case you might want kids in the future? ...And isn't it sort of odd to take photos and put it on a website?

  • ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww good post.
  • CellarFloor broke the monkey filter.
  • i'm too much monkey to be filtered.
  • I think vasectomies are great. If I had a penis, I'd definitely get a vasectomy. Vyse, your question about doubt is a bit confusing to me. A vasectomy isn't a quick or temporary fix. If a man isn't sure whether he wants kids, he definitely shouldn't have a vasectomy. Like tubal ligation, a vasectomy should be considered permanent, for all intents and purposes. Both procedures can be reversed, but not without wasting quite a bit of time and money. Plus, to reverse either procedure, far more invasive surgery is required than it took to sever the tubes.
  • I had a vasectomy two years ago. It was a fairly painless procedure although the afterpain was quite bad for a week or two. Something went wrong unfortunately and I developed a spermatocele cyst. The operation to remove that was much worse, they had to make a pretty big cut to reach it and even now, after a year, my left scrotum is still quite sensitive to touch. But I won't get offspring, and that's what it was all about. I don't have second thoughts about that. (I'm not member of that club BTW, I only heard about it a few weeks ago in this MonkeyFilter thread. My reasons for doing it are a bit different.)

  • I'm quite certain I never want kids but I don't think I'd have a vasectomy just in case in the far future I have a total rehaul of my opinions. Hard luck on the spermatocele cyst though, I'm sure that wasn't pleasant in the slightest.
  • i've always found it fascinating that most of the men that i know -- intelligent, sophisticated, caring individuals -- ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to even DISCUSS getting a vasectomy. my ex and my current included. mare, was the vasectomy your idea or your partner's? was it something you struggled with emotionally beforehand? the men i know all say the same thing: NOBODY IS GONNA MESS AROUND DOWN THERE. and like i said, these are otherwise fine and well-adjusted individuals. but then again, if i had a penis i would guard it carefully also.

  • I didn't have a partner when I decided to take the operation. If my future partners really wanted kids we might have adopted one. There are so many kids out there that don't have parent to care for them. And not only in China and other 'traditional' adoption countries but also in Canada and the US. My current partner doesn't want kids.

  • YEA MARE!/b> I like the cut of your jib, son. or something A man who knows that being a sperm donor is not the same as being a father. Interesting link, Vyse

  • An acquaintance of mine had a vasectomy. His ensuing complications, and the story that he told about same, probably resulted in hundreds of otherwise eligible engineers electing to forego the procedure. The story's punch line: big black grapefruit.
