Sinclair Broadcasting Group censored a Nightline program Friday night, blocking eight major markets from receiving Ted Koppel's tribute to 721 American soldiers. This morning Sinclair's web site carried a heated statement against Nightline for presenting a "political agenda". But here's the kicker: four of Sinclair's top executives each have given the legal maximum of $2,000 to the Bush-Cheney re-election campaign. Sinclair owns 62 TV stations, mostly in medium-sized markets.
  • Political?? Who exactly made the mere act of putting names and faces to the statistics of dead boys and girls 'political'? What a bunch of crap. I hope every military family in Sinclair's markets calls them tup to tel them what they think of their lack of basic respect.
  • I hope they cover up the war mmeorials, too.
  • Interestingly, Ted Koppel on Al Franken's show yesterday said that of all the flood of email they've gotten about it, they didn't receive a single negative message from anyone in the military.
  • I think the biggest kicker is that the guy who runs the Sinclair group was arrested on charges of soliciting prostitution. Speaking of indecent....
  • Remember, folks, only commie terrorist liberals honor their war dead.
  • I sat and watched the show last night, absolutely riveted. My thoughts never drifted to the political, they were simply, "god, most of them are so young". Koppel's cloing thought was the best. It essentially boiled down to, "the politics are there, regardless of which side of the argument you're on" He also said he supported the war. These Sinclair execs' convictions must be pretty weak if they think last night's show would shake them.
  • I second dng, at this rate I'd say we need to dynamite the Vietnam memorial in DC.
