Curious George: Community satire page?
I'm one of those people that goes to places like the Onion to get a tiny dribble of satire each week. But these articles are all written by employees and administrators. Come on, it's 2004! I'd like to find a community-run news satire page, with articles written by readers. I want to write satirical articles and headlines too. Does such a site exist?

Check out The Spoof. Good luck.

Hmmm. Looks a little bit shit. Onion-writing style minus Onion wit. But hey. I suppose the point is, you can change that... Me says, start your own. The internet needs more pages, and fast.

You can submit your shiznit here, should you so desire. Or if you told Wendell a joke, I'm sure he'd pass it on.

I second the Roll Your Own. use something like Scoop that'll let users rate contributions, and go nuts. There's serious potential there.

Adequacy was pretty subtle; is defunct now.

May I make a request, as a member of the websurfing public? Please don't try to make an Onion-style humor site. There are far too many Onion clones out there already, and frankly, I never saw the need to read any of the many Onion clones, because I could just read the Onion. But I am (or was) a big fan of Brunching Shuttlecocks and Modern Humorist, because those guys had their own distinct voices. Now that the Brunching Shuttlecocks are no more, and the Modern Humorist guys are too busy with their media empire to update their website, there's a lot of room out there for somebody with a funny and distinctive voice. So don't try to be funny like The Onion, rolypolyman. Try to be funny like yourself--and maybe soon, folks will be imitating you. (Disclaimer: I am an occasional contributor to The Onion, and may therefore be biased. Needless to say, I am not speaking for The Onion, and all opinions are my own.)

See, I think th every nature of what rolypolyman is looking for virtually guaruntees that it be in some way distinctive - i.e. not a centrally authored and edited site, as most humor sites are, but a community satire area - open contribution, and open moderation. That to me has potential to be very interesting.
