Curious, George: Sex and Music The question to my fellow music lovin' monkeys: If you were to create a sexy mix for your SO what kind of songs would you include? What would you like to hear in an hour of sexy sexy primate bliss?
  • Roxy Music.
  • wait, do you mean music _I_ get it on to or music that's ironically sexy or generic "Sade/R.Kelly/LSG" getchafreak on stuff?
  • Some Blossom Dearie, bossa nova, tango, (as previously mentioned) Roxy Music, Chet Baker...
  • A little Sam Cooke or early Etta James would be nice. Nothing can top her version of At Last, even if it is overplayed these days.
  • Betty Davis. (but only if you're a pervert)
  • If I could be seduced by music alone, it would be Jeff Buckley's work. So passionate and sensual. Though you might want to check out some Prince (Gett Off), some Depeche Mode (Sea of Sin, I Want You Now, etc...), or even some Hall and Oates (One on One). Just depends on what mood you want to set - smooth seduction, or outright in your face lust.
  • Stan Getz/Joao Gilberto, Chet Baker, maybe some Nina Simone (I Want a Little Sugar In My Bowl). A good mix like that and you can't lose, brother.
  • Nathaniel Merriweather presents: LOVAGE - Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By Produced by Dan the Automator, vocals by Mike Patton and Jennifer Charles <3<3<3. Get it. It's genius.
  • I could listen to Jennifer Charles sigh, for two weeks straight.
  • I dunno, these days, with two little ones in the house, it is the golden sound of 'silence'.:>
  • Surlyboi's sure-fire, "in the mood" mix... Let's Stay Together - Al Green Slave to Love - Bryan Ferry I'd die without you - PM Dawn Avalon - Roxy Music Protection - Massive Attack Distractions - Zero 7 At Last - Etta James Shape of My Heart - Sting Whistle Down the Wind - Nick Heyward True - Spandau Ballet No Ordinary Love - Sade Throw in a little Barry White and Marvin's Sexual Healing for variety and it's all good.
  • I second that Roxy Music (early Roxy Music only, please), and some Bowie, and indeed any star-gazing, omni-fucking early seventies glamorama. Or a little late seventies/early eighties punk-funk hero Rick James. Classy. "She was only seventeen... seventeen... but she was SEXY!!" Gotta be lovin' that. I feel I should report here that an **ahem** important event in my life was played out to a soundtrack of The Bends, with 'Fake Plastic Trees' being the most, er, significant track. I suspect this may have coloured my view of a lot of things in the subsequent years. (Should this thread not have been titled "Curious George Michael"?...)
  • "Eye Know" by De La Soul Anything by Nina Simone "Mind Sex" by Dead Prez
  • I second the nina simone, particularly sinnerman or see-line woman.
  • "Principles of Lust: Sadeness" from Enigma would definately be on mine.
  • The Orb's "Little Fluffy Clouds". Ahh, the memories. Obviously not everyone's cup of tea. It worked for me. Mainstream? Sade. Berlin. Of course, if anything fails, there's monkeyfilter's unofficial, romantic music to do'it by.
  • there was a time when it was Andreas Vollenweider. I think it's interesting the variations here it's like you're all . . . different people or something. Heyyyyy . . waitaminit! This isn't my blog at all! This is some kinda . . freaky monkey thing!
  • "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover" by Sophie B. Hawkins always does it for me.
  • DJ Assault (MP3 file) seems to create the right mood for seduction...
  • Seduction, "Hey good lookin', wanna see my fractal etchings, OMG WTF?!?", chez fractal_badger, starts with. . . •Aimee Mann, "You're With Stupid Now" •Nick Cave, "Where the Wild Roses Grow" •Velvet Underground, "Femme Fatale" •Nine Inch Nails, "Closer" Once the mood is established. . . •Tom Waits, "What Keeps Mankind Alive" •Nina Hagen, "Smack Jack" •Oysterhead, "Mr. Oysterhead" •Natalie MacMaster, "The Drunken Piper" For the coda. . . •Portishead, "Sour Times" •Pink Floyd, "See Emily Play" •Was (not Was), "I Feel Better Than James Brown"
  • Cake, "Italian Leather Sofa" Cake, "Commissioning a Symphony in C" Chemical Brothers, "Where do I begin" Liz Phair, "Johnny Feelgood" The Dany Warhols, "The Gospel"
  • Dany = Dandy
  • Lovage Al Green Chet Baker (Sings) Miles Davis (Sketches of Spain, Kind of Blue) Astor Piazzolla The Dramatics Ravi Shankar
  • Cinerama's album Disco Volante is quite sssssssssssssssseductive.
  • Depends on the kind of monkey love in question. Depending on the mood, albums by Parliament, Massive Attack, and Ella Fitzgerald can all be equally sexy - but a mismatch to the mood would have comic and disastrous consequences.
  • Mel, you just listed a trio that I have ALSO put to good use (no, on three DIFFERENT occasions, wiseguy). So, uh, are you doing anything tonight?
  • I worked out a reason why Godspeed You! Black Emperor's Moya was the best sex song in the world, a while ago. I forget why. Never tried. Nowadays, I'd try Sigur Rós. You know, if... if... so lonely
  • I'll take music with my music and sex with my sex, thanks. What is your favourite book to read while you boink? TV? Radio show? Meal?
  • Wolof makes a good point. As a youngster with a whole heart I heartily enjoyed music with my sex. I realize now that I actively avoid it, to avoid the music becoming tainted by the ickiness of bad sex or inevitable heartbreak.
  • Bad sex? There's bad sex? Oh wait, I'm a guy, so it's always at least ok....
  • My vote would be for Bill Laswell's, Dreams of Freedom: Ambient Translations of Bob Marley in Dub or Panthalassa: The Music Of Miles Davis 1969-1974
  • I really need to buy those two. Laswell is great.
  • I actually made such a cd. With cover, label and all for my then fiancée. It was named Going Down and contained songs about oral sex only. 1 Rolling Stones Cocksucker Blues 3:29 2 Lil' Kim How Many Licks 3:53 3 Judas Priest Eat me Alive 3:35 4 Chef Chocolate Salty Balls 3:55 5 Consolidated You Suck 4:13 6 Frank Zappa I promise not to come in your mouth 3:00 7 Monty Python Sit on my Face 0:44 8 Ultrasound Fame Thing 4:18 9 Serge Gainsbourg Suck Baby Suck 3:45 10 David Bowie Sweet Head 4:17 11 Ween Let Me Lick Your Pussy 8:48 12 Laurie Anderson Langue d'Amour 6:18 13 Anal Blast Suck The Shit Off My Dick 0:35 14 Karen Finley Belgian Waffles 5:48 15 Prince Come 11:13
  • Wolof: The Life of Pi, Black Books, I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, and lasagne.
  • You can watch this bloke and tonk at the same time? God I loved Black Books.
