The creators of Pancake Mountain hope to bring their old-school punk aesthetic to the kid-vid set. Captain Perfect loves the kids... "The kids want quality!" the Captain proclaims in the premiere episode of Pancake Mountain, a new children's TV show. "Not this cheap, cheesy stuff!" The declaration comes when the gold-top-hat-wearing superhero, played by standup comic Erik Meyers, finds himself in a meeting with "The Board". The evil conglomeration of suits, portrayed by the likes of former Husker Du frontman Bob Mould and WTOP reporter Neal Augenstein, wants to give the Captain the boot and change Pancake Mountain's format. On the table are kid-on-kid wrestling and product tie-ins, such as pancake Frisbees with faux dollops of delicious fruit topping. [Captain Perfect] tells The Board exactly what he thinks of their plan to bombard Washington's kids with more of the same violent images and toy commercials: "This is doo-doo." Be sure to check out video clips like Ian Mackeye of Fugazi fame singing about Vowels, Vic Chestnutt Workin on the Railroad, and the shows surreal opening theme.

[ this is awesome ]
-
That Ian MacKaye clip is the single greatest thing I have ever seen. And I'm not joking, either. I wish I could download it somehow.
-
I agree. Thievery Corporation! That kid in the cable-knit sweater is getting down something fierce.
-
Also, dng, here you go. Yay for "View Source."
-
Cheers, pmdboi. (I hadn't thought of doing that. Nice one)
-
Makes me almost want to have kids!
-
Oh, man, my kid will love this. Too bad it's far too good to ever be broadcast. [banana pancake]
-
Actually Ulo, I think it IS being broadcast on cable access in DC. Could be wrong though. That is what I was led to believe by the person who sent me the link.
-
HOO. LEE. FOCK. This deserves a [WTF banana].

Erik Meyers, finds himself in a meeting with "The Board". The evil conglomeration of suits, portrayed by the likes of former Husker Du frontman Bob Mould and WTOP reporter Neal Augenstein Someone should cast (former Husker Du frontman) Grant Hart as a good guy. There can be a whole episode on who should take more credit for Zen Arcade and who took more drugs when they were in the band.

I like pancakes. Who else likes pancakes? Spectacular find. This is what Sesame Street SHOULD look like instead of the steaming pile of CGI multiculti crap/pap it's become. Jim Henson would approve of pancakes.
-
I must have watched the Ian MacKaye link about ten times. Great song.
-
Am I the only one who things the title "Vowel Movement" is pretty darn funny?
-
No Minda. Most certainly not.
-
Dammit!!!! I lost sound last night, can't listen to ANY of this!!! It looks great, though. Everyone looks like they are really enjoying themselves. Wish it was being broadcast in my area. I'll have to come back to it when I have sound.
-
Woohoo...waited till I came back home so's I could turn the sound up. Very good stuff. Wish children's programmes were this hip when I was a child.
-
I hope they get on television soon - I think they should go the PBS or Community access route. I remember this really good Community Access show in Etobicoke...no - not the one in the basement, the one with the two guys interviewing random people on the street.
