Tidepooling...what an amazing adventure For a different adventure, try tidepooling. Point Reyes National Seashore in No. California has some beautiful viewing areas for seeing amazing sea creatures... anemones, starfish, crab & the like...

Tidepooling is one of the coolest things I've experienced. The tide goes out & all of these different sea creatures appear. Beware...don't go alone & take a big flashlight if you're there past sunset.

  • What a beautiful world we live in.
  • My brother in law once found an octopus in a rock pool - it had squished itself almost flat to stay in the water, having been stranded there when the tide went out.
  • I've actually been to point reyes a few times and the pictures really don't do it justice. Nonetheless, I'll see if I can dig up some pics and post 'em to my site.
  • Point Reyes was one of the highlights of my holiday in California a few years ago - I thought it was a really beautiful place and the visitor info was really well done, very informative about the history and wildlife so thanks for the post anjinsf and I'd be interested in seeing your photos surlyboi
  • ewwwwww, fish PEE in that water!! anjinsf, great link Living in Idaho doesn't provide much seawater opportunity, but one of the highlights of trips to the Oregon coast has been mucking around in tidepools. Point Reyes sounds wonderful.
  • Yes, ocopus from tiny tidepools swim to prance about the ocean floor with vim -- while starfish gaze in wonder, envying them, and urchins wave, although they lack a limb.
