Well, the subtitles do fairly accurately tell the whole story, except where MeFi stumbled into a fundraising drive that has so far gotten support from over 2500 MeFites (including me, obvs.)
If a general Google search doesn't come back with metafilter sources much anymore, one need only search on Google for site:metafilter.com something or other to find the same metafilter samples on Google as before. Accordingly our method of searching (for monkeyfilter.com examples) works for them too...
