What is this world cumming to? Nun becomes prostitute. To make matters worse, she writes about it.

    So if I read this right, she was 30 and married, and then had an affair with a 19-year-old. Okay, fine. But I doubt somehow that you could describe that as "inevitable".

  • She should have asked some questions before becoming a nun. Though I don't see any questions listed there about what if you want to be a prostitute and a nun. (There is one, however, about what if you want to be a singer and a nun.)
  • I think that's because nuns have to take three vows: poverty, chastity and obedience (to God). So there's question of becoming a prostitute AND a nun, since you have to be chaste.

  • Sounds like the title of her book [God's Call Girl] is a bit misleading. The article says she 'scotched' religion after leaving the convent. Unless I'm misinterpreting what 'scotched' means.

She added that her interpretation of her father's action was that she was "the baddest girl in the world" and that God had abandoned her. /generic_disparaging_comment_about_organized_religion I mean, Jesus Cr- . . just Dayam!
  • that hal hartley movie is one of my absolute favorites. highly recommended. soundtrack kicks ass too!
  • having worked and studied the issue of child sexual abuse...and having a daughter who was sexually abused as a child, i find this woman's pattern of behaviour rather the norm for such victims. the added confusion of the deeply embedded faith would complicate this for her....has a lapsed catholic ever really excaped their punitive god? if she is literate enough to make a strong written statement about her experiences and what she has learned, then more power to her. regardless of the juxtaposition of god and prostition.....i suspect, for her, they were very entwined.
