Curious George: The MonkeyFilter Themesong
With all the talk of a CD swap, the DIY portion of my monkey brain got to thinking about the possiblity of MoFiers who dabble in music collaborating to make - The MonkeyFilter Themesong. Is there any kind of interest?
In this age of Reason (or Garageband, or Acid), It would be simple for us to do, right? Just post finished parts to some website until there was enough for someone to mix down. It seems like a dumb idea at first, but I keep cracking myself up when I imagine the kind of stuff that could be made in the ElectroChip, Emo Simian or Monkey Thrash genres. But then again dumb stuff cracks me up more than I care to admit :( Thoughts?

goetter's rendition of "MonkeyFilter" (to the tune of Helter Skelter) was a great start. Throw in some quotes, sounds, etc. It's a new "Convoy" waiting to happen!
-
Whoa, missed that thread somehow - but YES, thats the idea! Not so much a promotion, just to have a laugh or 2.
-
goetter's song, by all means!
-
back in the day, we monkeyed around with the words to "Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music. Link here.
-
of course, things were different back then. Why we posted uphill both ways in twenty-seven feet of snow and blistering heat then. Barefoot and late for our jobs at the mill. But that's the way we liked it! We loved it! Just try telling the monkeys today that - an' they won't beleive ya.
-
short but sweet
-
that rocks. [banana]
-
Stay away from the Helter Skelter idea at all costs. Realeasing a cover of this song on a live album is a guarantee that the best days are behind you. See Dave Matthews Band and U2 for proof. The album before the live version of Helter Skeletr was the last good one for both.
-
Ha! How could you get the B-Flats to sing that, sutureself?
-
And sutureself jumps in ahead with the 1st sample! Ween-ish! [plantain]
-
Here's to George the curious little Monkey(filter) [mp3 link]
-
Wow, I totally missed goetter's song. Nice work. That's a theme song if I ever heard one
-
I linked sutureself's contribution into my MeFi profile. Maybe if I dazzle the Blue with my wit and wisdom and they visit my profile they might migrate over here a bit. yeah right.
-
Nice, sciurus. :)
-
Every bit counts Scirus :)
-
sutureself - I want to hear that every time I log on to MoFi!
-
beautiful. Reminds me of Stormtroopers of Death's "Diamonds and Rust (extended version)"
-
Anti-procrastination song!!
-
I like sutureself's riff. Perfect for just before we take a commercial break. Do we have some sultry backup singers on board? And Wolof, can you drop a semi-funky 70s disco bass line? Because I keep hearing "MONKEY FILTERRR! MONKEY FILTERRR!" to the tune of the old 20 years ago by goetter
-
Funny you should ask, I actually moonlight as a sultry backup singer every Wednesday night at Hooters.
-
The answer is simple. The theme song should be Monkey Man by the Rolling Stones (MP3).
-
I'd have to second goetter's "MONKEY FILTERRR! MONKEY FILTERRR!" for at least some kind of transition element...I'm sure it'll be stuck in my head for days, now.
-
And Wolof, can you drop a semi-funky 70s disco bass line? I could, but got no A/D here. Do you have a Clavinet (or software equivalent)? That would do the job, if you back it up with a few sub-type farts (say, on the 1 and the 3) on a fat low pad.
-
No A/D here in Seattle, either, but I do keep a Yamaha P-80 in the country. I can fake it on that. Will review my cable situation out there next week and see what I can do. Forks, grab a couple of girls from the salad bar and let's go.
-
So other than suture's way rad quickie, did anything ever come of this?
-
sutureself's jingle is missing from sciurus's profile page! How sad.
-
Insufficient mixological skills here.
-
Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring... Bananaphone
-
This is proof that no one should mumble about themesongs around me when I'm sleep deprived. Further tweaking and smoothing out of the rough edges will happen whenever I finally do catch up on sleep. The lyrics aren't always incredibly clear, since I have a fairly cheap and crappy mike. So, here they are, in all their questionable glory: Come and post an FPP (post an FPP) Or throw your troubles off and read a while Log in and join the troop Leave your links for all to see You'll find you make them all with a smile We'll give bananas unto thee (bananas unto thee) Say something brilliant and we'll give you more Come check the lavendar where we inform and entertain Monkeyfilter: Who could ask for more Just look at this FPP (Who made a double post?) The comments are all full of poetry Some posts just never die Can't tell you why It's a mystery Mofi's so much fun, I never see the sun And I read instead of sleep Oooo, who needs to sleep?
-
Hey wow!
-
Woah - the couch is *breathing*!
