Bioluminescence

I love this. Bioluminescence is so like the Northern Lights brought down to earth.

So cool. How about swimming in Bioluminescent Bay? "Why does the water glow? This unique bay contains up to 720,000 single-celled bioluminescent dinoflagellates per gallon of water. These half-plant, half-animal organisms emit a flash of bluish light when agitated at night. The high concentration of these creatures (Pyrodimium bahamense) can create enough light to read a book from. However, tests now show that because of pollution the bay only glows 1/10 of its original strength. :(

Fireflies try hard to make the sky itself bio-luminesent.
