Meetup ahoy! Not that I anticipate a huge response, somehow, but I'm planning to attend the Metafilter meetup in Auckland, NZ, next month. Any NZ monkeys (which I think amounts to rodgerd and vitalorgnz, although there may be more), please join me and I will buy you the beverage of your choice (conditions apply).

  • Do we have a venue/date? It would be great to have a MoFi/MeFi combo. Being mainlander-bred, I'll 'ave a Speights...

  • Those of us courageous enough to attempt to take a photograph (no flash, lest the tracikraken was awoken) were rewarded with images of dark blurriness. Alas!
  • Yeah, no shame, Ed. Most pics of the kraken and her ilk are dark blurriness. SO WHERE'S MY SHOUT-OUT!!
  • I managed to tuck away my extra limbs for the evening, but was aghast at the many meetuppers who chose seafood for dinner. My poor children, how they suffer for us! And out of ten people, NOT ONE PERSON remembered their camera. Shocking. Just shocking.
  • No pictures? No shout-outs? It never happened.
  • I have one on my phone, but yesterday I got a new phone, so...um. Yes. On a dead phone, there is a blurry, dark photo of a piece of paper with "MonkeyFilter <3" on it in my handwriting, held up in the general vicinity of EdAzarkh's face.
  • Oh my god! The tracikraken has eaten them all and destroyed the evidence! Watch out EdAzarkh, you're next! Run away!

  • I'm big in Japan. Don't ask gomi.
  • Big in Japan? I always assumed that was an optical illusion. (It's true! Godzilla is 6"3' max.)
