I have tried this with an egg binder on crumbs for covering the fish with mixed results. Now that I see the importance of flour and sodium bi carbonte, I'll be hoping for TOTAL success.
-
bi carbonte... Is that some fancy French ingredient that is pronounced with an accent on the second syllable and a tay on the end? If so, get it off my F&C!!
-
Yeah I shoulda waited until after lunch to clicky on this link.
-
I do have eye problems, so I'll just have to give BlueHorse the fish eye.
-
You mean like this?
-
Good enough! Or like the fish people in Dagon?
-
But never ever.
-
What? we get like 10 minutes as a new comment, when there aren't even that many comments?
-
Actually, NO other comments?
-
Oh. Five minutes?
-
Dan, as soon as you close your browser your new comments list on the front page is reset. But don't worry, when I visit later my FP list of new comments will include your latest comments. It's not a time thing. So perhaps you are closing your browser (or somehow ending your MoFi "visit") and that is resetting your recent comments list. I am not sure exactly what constitutes "ending your visit" - it seems safe to click a link and then click "back" to MoFi. But closing a second browser in the same machine sometimes resets the list (for me, at least). Also, people without accounts, or who are not logged in, see no list of recent comments. So if you are logged out, and thus logged in as "Anonymous", that would account for your comments (list) disappearing too. Or maybe your ISP assigns you a new IP address every five minutes or something like that. Anyway, since we aren't paying a single red cent for membership here (like they do at the other place) and since it isn't all clagged up with google ads (like it is at the other place) I'd say we should just tolerate an imperfect world, keep our monkey heads down and not start rubbing the bashi the wrong way. ;-) MonkeyFilter: Rubbing the bashi the wrong way! Sorry, Gramma, I knew you would if I didn't.
-
We are all surfing shifting sands. I appreciate your soft comment very much, ThinksTwice. All of these platforms, and all, I was merely hitting the *reload* button on Firefox on Linux every so often. But Tracicle did right, by Gum!
-
The bashi doesn't mind.
-
MonkeyFilter: Rubbing the bashi the wrong way! Well done, TT. MonkeyFilter: The bashi doesn't mind. How zen!
-
MonkeyFilter: it isn't all clagged up with google ads.
-
I'm always confused about the recent comments thing, too, because I rarely close my browser. I sometimes delete just the MoFi cookies and sign in again, instead.
-
I close my browser specifically to get rid of the new comments/posts once I've read them. I bet there's a better way, but to change things requires time and a #2 who doesn't have a billion other projects on the go.
-
It's a feature! No biggie.
-
A really nice feature though, especially to find new comments on old threads.

We always, without fail, have fish and chips on Friday for dinner. It's just always been the way since I was tiny, and probably the generation before that. Don't know if it stems back to the end-of-week payday treat, or more just the one night the chief cook gets a night off. I think they're as much an institution, if not more so, here than in the UK. Much like the invisible class system, the obession with royals, and bad teeth. (Okay, that last one was a wind-up.)
-
You can enjoy plain ol' fish and chips? After the million dollar platter whitebait? Fish & chips with malt vinegar. WANT!
-
At a federal government institution where I worked, the cafeteria's special on Fridays was always fish & chips - you could smell it all over the building. I always figured it was a throwback to older Catholic ways.
