Curious Fun-lovin George:
My grandkids love hidden object games, and there are a few Big Fish and AOL games that could be especial favorites. The prices are fine for the downloads, I just don't know what I'm getting into.
Do I really want to do this?
I hate having things dumped on my 'puter. Are these sites going to take over? Will I be spammed? How can I minimize the impact? Is it worth it? Other ideas for fun? Hope me, you gamey monkeys!

Are you asking for suggestions on specific games, or suggestions on how to go about acquiring them electronically? If it's the latter, then consider going with Steam as a digital delivery system. Most of the games it hosts probably aren't up the alley of either you or your grandkids (assuming they're not yet adolescents), but I believe they have a good selection of indie games and family-friendly games, like the kind you seem to be talking about. I can't guarantee they'll have what you're looking for; but if they do, then they're the service to go with. They have a solid reputation among gamers, and their service is about as non-invasive as it can get. I help that was of some hope to you. :)

Hey BH - I've found Big Fish very reasonable and not spammish at all. I have quite a few of their find-the-wotsit games and love them. Most of the games allow you to download a free 1 hour trial (heartbreaking when it ends!), and several can be played online also. I say go fer it!

Escape Games 24 often links to hidden object games, most of them playable online. The game decriptions aren't too helpful though, since they're all nearly indentical. I don't usually bother with games that require registration or downloading but I use a throwaway gmail address if I do, to avoid the spam.
