Artist Simon Schubert makes rooms by creasing paper
  • It would never have occurred to me that you could portray light with paper folds. Nice post, as always.
  • That's beautiful! Like the ghosts of rooms.
  • I imagine the artist mindlessly folding and unfolding, then suddenly realizing the potential for beautiful art. I'm jealous.
  • Cool. I love the paperfoldin' arts.
  • These are so fresh... no need of ink or scissors. Proves you can find art anywhere. Lovely post!
  • Amazing - thanks!
  • Yet another person who proves that I have no talent or value whatsoever. Oh, well. Back to crack!
  • I find it difficult to imagine how it's actually done. I'd love to see the artist at work.
  • He must do it by placing the paper on a raised surface and pressing. It can't be by folding. It's almost as if he has two plates with the contours of the scene already laid out, between which he clamps a piece of paper.
  • Aw heck, I guess if you unfold a particular party hat design, the paper bears the photographic likeness of the Hagia Sophia. Who knew?
