The coal industry lives for the oxymorons.

That (video) was weak.

I have no idea what "clean coal" is even supposed to mean. I assume that it is probably the most efficient means of burning coal that exists. But that would make it clean by most definitions. Or does it mean something else?
-
Clean coal means "chemically washing minerals and impurities from the coal, gasification (see also IGCC), treating the flue gases with steam to remove sulfur dioxide, and carbon capture and storage technologies to capture the carbon dioxide from the flue gas". But, as usual, "The neutrality of this article is disputed."
-
Because all of the chemical washing, gasification, and removal(ha) of sulfur dioxide exists in a vacuum of purity and causes no pollution or waste.

Because all of the chemical washing, gasification, and removal(ha) of sulfur dioxide exists in a vacuum of purity and causes no pollution or waste. I did not know that. That is great. I am totally in favor of clean coal now. Thank you!

At least this commercial effectively gets across the message that clean coal is a "lie" or that it doesn't work. The other one with the guy out in the middle of nowhere http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdHuB7Ovl2o gives the impression that this clean coal is so clean that it is invisible and has no impact on nature at all. Not the best way to get across your message.
