'I expected an ambulance, but a donkey cart carried the injured.'
Ewa Jasiewicz is one of the only international journalists on the ground in Gaza. Here is her account of a week spent trying to document the attacks.

Oh my goodness.

Watching the ground assult play out on tv now, and it's making me sick... If things were bad, their only going to get worse, by ten-fold. All he'll is about to break loose... and for what?

Israel's fait accompli in Gaza
-
Excellent piece, islander. Thanks.

Agreed. Thanks for the link, islander. Those Americans who still do not understand why their nation was attacked on 9/11 need only look to Gaza... The brutal collective punishment inflicted on Gaza will likely strengthen Hamas and reverse any hopes of a Middle East peace in the coming years. When I saw the headlines Friday evening, I thought to myself, "a future 9/11 awaits..." The US Media is clearly one-sided on the issue. CNN was interviewing Laila El-Haddad (currently in the US), and her father (in Gaza) as the ground incursion began. As her father began to speak of the horrid living conditions on the Strip, raw sewage, etc etc - the CNN News anchor was quick to cut him off and add "well, I just spoke to a senior Israeli military official, and they confirmed that Hamas has continued to fire rockets into Israel". But what choice does one have at this point? Any moderates in Gaza are now likely to turn extreme (and I surely wouldn't blame them). Simmering anger will begin to ripple and pour over across the Muslim populations throughout the world. Israel's current actions are backwards at best, and make no sense to me. It's frustrating to see innocent civilians ignored, targeted, and essentially forgotten... casually lumped into a "terrorist organization". But then again, why should the US start to care now? Time for Barack to step up...
