Ghosts of Nature A collection of beautiful albino animals, along with a good amount of accessible scientific info on albinism. The peafowl are gorgeous.

  • Had no idea that albinism was prevalent in so many species. For some reason albino birds seem to be the most startling, especially the penguins. And the peafowl really are beautiful.
  • Gorgeous. I love the third kitty with the cobalt-blue eyes. I want one! On the other end of the spectrum, the albino hedgehogs freaked me out for some reason. The owl with the all-black eyes too. *shudder*
  • Those animals are gorgeous. The birds are absolutely stunning. What a wonderful collection of photos.
  • Beautiful find, Lara! My first thought, of course, was that the albino penguins were just wearing white dinner jackets instead of the usual black tailcoats. I saw an albino deer in the wild once. It was a breathtaking sight I don't think I'll ever forget.
  • Absolutely beautiful! I like the moth :) Lovely link, Lara, thank you.
  • Yes, 'neddy, the owl was totally strange and haunting. *shudders* Not that I'd like to meet any moose in a dark alley, but that first moose was a scary boy. We had a deaf albino cat (albinism with deafness is common in cats) You really couldn't tell by her behavior that she was deaf. All the hearing cats gave us the same blank look and walked away, too.
