Worshipping les Canadiens.
A course at Université de Montréal, examining the idea of the Montreal Canadiens (now in their hundredth season) as a religion, or more accurately, of sport as a substitute for religion.
Something of a fluff concept, perhaps, but with serious underpinnings, as the secularization of Quebec society is sometimes said to have started with the Richard Riots -- the fall of the one and the rise of the other. But surely, other parallels can be made for different teams...
