Last of Albania's 'sworn virgins'
"Almost eight decades on, Qamile Stema still remembers clearly the day she decided to give up her long hair and dresses in order to become the male head of her household." Burrnesha are women that take a vow to remain virgins for their entire life so that they can be viewed as men in the highly patriarchal Albanian society.

Likewise, I've never heard of this either. Thanks for the post, Abiezer...

Me neither, though it reminded me of something sort of akin in China where women would renounce marriage and set up all-female households.

I thought it might also provide a launching-off point for the Capt. to share with us his lifetime's experience of not getting any.

Soon, soon, my beauties! Maybe even later today when I finish this horrible report.
