  • (also, not to self-link, but I have more here. I use this reference page a lot more than I ever thought I would. For bonus fun, you can use your keyboard to dump unicode using the CDATA entry - in Windows, hold down "alt" and type the numeric part of the entry on the number pad. So a thorn, for example, is Þ for HTML, or [alt]+222 for normal text entry. And all the Mac users probably already know how to drop weird characters using the built-in keyboard shortcuts, right?)

  • Oops. there were two typos on that page I linked. Fixed. At any rate all of the characters show up for me (Western, ISO-8859-1), for both HTML and CDATA encoding, in FF3, Mac or Windows. I know that IE6 didn't show a lot of them, and I think IE7 even blows it on a few, and I'm sure there are some characters that I didn't even get around to including... like the multiracial smiley faces! ☺☻ [alt]+1, [alt]+2...
