Medieval Imaginations
is a site from Cambridge which provides a large collection of medieval images depicting episodes from the English mystery plays. There's a zippy interface enabling you to zoom in and scroll around.
In a few cases complete cycles of mystery plays have survived, and in recent times these have been revived in some places.

Weighty read, Plegs but very interesting. Will have to take this in small, elegant doses.
-
Exquisite craftsmanship. One wonders what else could have accomplished had the artists not been restricted by custom to biblical themes.
-
My kind of link. Partly because I aspire to update my imagination from Dark Ages to medieval.
-
Absolutely beautiful. Many days' worth of stuff to browse round here. Thanks, Pleggy.

Bookmarked! I love seeing how different artists interpret the same scene. My favorite so far is this Baptism of Christ. The water! THE WATER!

David Hasselhoff appears to the shepherds Also, TUM, that one's great. I love the baptism-with-fish idea. [I know it's symbolic, but still.]
-
Looks more Walken than Hasselhoff to me, but that could just be the hair.

Denis Leary appears to the shepherds. ... or maybe Willem Dafoe.
-
He's got sort of a Willem Dafoe thing goin' on, too.

I see Dylan Baker.
