crazy4cult Artists inspired by cult films.

Apologies if this is a double - I searched, but it seems like such a Mofi thing I wouldn't be surprised if it's been mentioned before.

  • Forgot to add: My favorite so far is this Godzilla, reminiscent of Maurice Sendak.
  • Ha! Strange Brew! I thought I was the only person in the world to have seen that. On VHS. About a 100 years ago.
  • It's required viewing for Canadians. There's a test and everything.
  • I think I'd go for "The Problematic Blueberry Pie", though there are plenty of good others.
  • Never did I think the concepts of "Violet Beauregard" and "erotica" would intersect. But then again, there's Harry Potter slashfic.
  • Dood -- it's not erotica, it's an artistic statement. Liking art makes you sophisticated, instead of just a big ol' perv. Now get with the program. Srsly, though -- there's more going on there than big bazongas.
  • I had seen these touching family portraits on another blog I go to sometimes, which will apparently be a part of crazy4cult. Cool stuff!
  • Srsly, though -- there's more going on there than big bazongas. Sure, I agree, but there's clearly erotic subtext there. Just surprised me to see it, that's all.
  • Compositionally, you've got some nice tension. The lines of the bikini straps, and the bubble gum give it this upward movement to the mouth and eyes, but then that focal point is contrasted by the darkness of the bikini. The viewer is drawn upwards, also by the lighting from underneath, to focus everything on the mouth -- the centre of 'gluttony'. But then the viewer goes back down to the darkness of the bikini, creating the movement between the object of gluttony and the means of its satisfaction. And the colouring too -- gluttony is made to look idealized, yet there's still something unearthly about it. And you've got all this stuff in the background, which is confusing and unfocused. So while there's a lot going on, there's nothing to do but concentrate on the object and satisfaction of gluttony. The wrapper, too, is fading into that haziness -- once the object of gluttony has been devoured, it is quickly forgotten as everything else. On top of that, you've got the really nice touch of the bird. Birds traditionally represent salvation. But the bird is looking away -- is salvation not interested? Shielding itself? Who knows? Plus, there are big bazongas. As I see it all, anyway. Idunno. I'm tired, and need to make it an early morning.
  • If there's one thing I've learned in this crazy life, it's that there's always a way to figure bazongas into the equation.
  • My own personal WWJD is HDBFITE (How Do Bazongas Fit Into This Equation). That and WDTHTDWGL (What Does This Have To Do With Green Lantern).
