*is quiet and sad*
-
I meant to comment on this post last night, but I literally fell asleep listening to the soundscapes. They are beautiful, and it's a shame that many of these environments have been destroyed. Perhaps that is all the human race will be left with one day - a digital circus of sounds, images, and large animated recreations to marvel at.

Great stuff but trying to access the archive proved unsurmountable.

The sounds of tree frogs and howler monkeys in Costa Rica
-
Years ago I shared a house with some friends, one whom brought home a tropical plant for the living room. We soon discovered a tree frog just like the wee red-eyed fellow in the first picture of Homie's link clinging to the plant. We built a terrarium for him(or her) and got in some live frog food from the pet store. Once in a while we'd hear froggy happily chirping away. In retrospect, froggie's chirping was probably a mating call, forever unrequited.
