Bill Melendez has died at 91.
Best known for his award-winning animation of the "Peanuts" cartoons, also worked with Warner Brothers, earlier Disney, and apparently countless other animation projects that I never knew about until tonight. God speed, Bill. I always loved your moonlit, shadowy, Snoopy-in-the-trenches-at-night backgrounds.

Did he play the piano music on the Peanuts TV programs? Or was that someone else?
-
Ah yes, that Peanuts Xmas special, the stroll in the night under thunderous Beethoven... good night, Bill.
-
So long to a man that must have brought a bit of Snoopy-flavoured joy to millions of kids. We all must remember watching those long Peanuts cartoons during the summer holidays...
-
he was the voice of snoopy and the animator; the piano was played by vince guaraldi. .
-
. A good innings.

The Snoopy Dance is my default go-to cheering-up-thing. Thank you, thank you, Mr. Melendez.
