Campbell was an unorthodox theatre genius with a CV too long and weird to list, but of note he was I think the only person to attempt to stage Robert Anton Wilson/Robert Shea's legendary Illuminatus! trilogy as a play. Some may remember Campbell's insightful documentary on Quantum Mechanics from the mid '90s, Reality on the Rocks - there is a torrent of this 3-part series at TheBox - registration required. LaFontaine was 'That Movie Trailer Voice' - hear his V/O and instantly recognise it. You may have seen his humorous short 5 Guys in a Limo, if not see it now. Michael Pate was a well known and highly talented Australian actor who also worked in the US for a large part of his career, often playing Native Americans due to his interesting slightly ethnic looks. If you are from Australia and don't recognise him, you are incredibly young or not a real Aussie.

That Illuminatus play was staged about 5 minutes away from where I now sit. It's now a Irish bar... Bill Drummond was employed making the scenery for it too. So long, Parker!

In a world where movie trailers entertained thousands, one man was better at narrating than all the others. That man -- was Don LaFontaine.

That man could make anything sound exciting. The sad thing is, NOBODY will be able to do his eulogy justice.
-
I have hated movie previews that began with "In a world..." for many, many years.

In a world where the food was fast and justice as slow as the service, one man was the law:

Can't let this slide without a mention of Lita Roza so much more than How much is that doggy in the window?.

In a world where books need trailers, a time-travelling Viking steps forward...
