Beaker!!!
I miss the Muppet Show.
-
I miss joy.
-
Good ol' Beaker. Amazing innit? That even a silly cartoon rendering of the Ninth's Ode to Joy can't diminish the magnificence of the music.
-
see also.

I've found that good scientists are also often good musicians.

The opposite is rarely true. Except for Jimi. First rate geostatistician. Trufax.

The first three seasons of The Muppet Show are now available as DVD box sets, with the rest on the way. My 7-year-old daughter and I have been watching them all summer. It's a whole new discovery for her, and a wonderful trip down memory lane for me.
-
What, the original ones from the 70s/80s?
-
No, late Triassic.
-
There was another muppet show that aired in the 90s. It didn't have Kermit.

What, the original ones from the 70s/80s? The very same.
-
We got them out one weekend and my five-year-old was rolling on the floor laughing at some of the sketches. Others went right over his head. But for him the instant classics were Mah Nah Mah Nah, the Swedish Chef, and the Ballroom scenes. Oh, and his favourite muppet is Rowlf. He got bored with the show much more quickly than I did though. And Bunsen and Beeker aren't regulars until much later.

There was another muppet show that aired in the 90s. It didn't have Kermit. That one wasn't too bad in its own right. The new characters, some of them were pretty good -- the Sinatra pastiche and Sal the monkey, they were pretty good, as was the bear, and that Cajun shrimp. Where the show was a bit of a letdown was in the old characters, who were all just that little bit off. I never did get attached to the Rasta host, though. But overall, not bad. YMMV.

My son gave me season 2 for my birthday. It's awesome. Peter Sellers.
-
that Cajun shrimp He ees not a shrimp, okay? He is a KING PRAWN!
-
That Beaker is very self-involved.

I heart Pepe the Prawn
