The Apple Tax
- How the "Apple Tax" Boosts Prices on iPod & iPhone Accessories

Yet another reason to be happy with my obsolete Zen.

Now I've got the old Apple Jax cereal jingle stuck in my head. A-apple Jax, A-apple Jax, Ten vitamins and minerals, That's what it packs! Apple-tasty, crunchy, too, Kellogg's Apple Jax! A-apple Jax, A-apple Jax, *fade out* The actual cereal was crap and scraped the roof of your mouth, but the song was catchy.

Yeah... I worked as an ACPT (Apple Certified Portable Tech) for awhile, and this is common knowledge. Everything Apple puts out is much more expensive than a generic, and they do everything possible to prevent people from coming up with generic versions (even the stupid headphone jacks inputs). Even an "Apple" 80GB Toshiba Hard Drive is going to be so much more expensive than an regular 80 GB Toshiba HD. (the ONLY difference is one is missing the Apple logo), and in effect the Toshiba one is covered under its own 3 yr warranty, while a replacement one for your computer is only covered for as long as the warranty for the entire computer is covered, which could be far less than 3 years...

Monkeyfilter: crap and scraped the roof of your mouth, but the song was catchy.

I liked Apple: the Scrappy Underdog much better than Apple: We're Just Like Microsoft.

Up to now, most Apple stuff works with generic headphone jacks and most external hard drives will hook up via USB. This is very dodgy...

But will it blend?

Apple removes $1,000 featureless iPhone application

A possible explanation for its removal: A screen shot of an App Store review that has been circulating around the Web recently, showing a user's complaint that he purchased it accidentally. "I saw this app with a few friends and we jokingly clicked 'buy' thinking it was a joke, to see what would happen. What would happen when you clicked 'buy'? A fool and his money were soon parted, that's what happened.
