Aide: Rumsfeld Urged Iraq Attack Sooner I am really starting to wonder if Rumsfeld is fit to serve. He urged an attack on Iraq immediately shortly after 9/11. Richard A. Clarke, former White House counterterrorism coordinator recounts Rumsfeld reasoning.

"Rumsfeld was saying we needed to bomb Iraq," Clarke said. "We all said, 'But no, no, al-Qaida is in Afghanistan." Clarke, who is expected to testify Tuesday before a federal panel reviewing the attacks, said Rumsfeld complained in the meeting that "there aren't any good targets in Afghanistan and there are lots of good targets in Iraq."
"No good targets." Amazing. So much for going after the guilty party.
  • Here's another article on it. Damn, Bush was in this, too.
  • Iraq=Naboo.
  • Sorry, I know this has been discussed before ad nauseum, but I simply do not understand why people are not screaming from the rooftops about this. Frogmarch the bastards out already.
  • Because the US Military is our shiny new leafblower, and even if we make a bigger mess in the process, hey, at least we got to try it out! And that drink lid in the gutter was asking for it.
