Anatomical Theatre: Depictions of the Body, Disease, and Death in Medical Museums of the Western World. A photographic exhibition by Joanna Ebenstein of Morbid Anatomy.
  • IIRC, I received a catalog of anatomical models at work yesterday. We're talking state-of-the-art realistic silicone, with veins for IV's and the high-end models able to simulate vaginal childbirth. And yet, they somehow seem less human than these older wax and mache ones in the museum link. They lack artistry and soul. Maybe that's why so many doctors treat us as if we were silicone models. ;-)
  • Holy cow, I just lost an hour exploring the blog... great images, expertly curated. Thanks, tellurian.
  • There used to be a hilarious site called Testicle Theater where some lunatic reenacted scenes from famous movies with his balls. It's gone now, and the domain got snatched up by some porn site. I especially liked his interpretation Moses parting the Red Sea. Good times.
  • Well, what can I say? I'd like to apologise to you pianistic but I experienced the same thing when I came across her blog. This brilliant exhibition just adds to my lost time… and I had the urge to share ;-) homunculus: WTF? Your point is?
  • Oh! I get it it now. I say something like: WOW! TOM: If I was a Real Doll manufacturer… I'd be all over that catalog like molasses on a hot cake. KEGELS ANATOMY!
