RIP Albert Hoffmann - he made a vast discovery. A vast one, I tell you.

I've noted the rejuvenating and apparently anti-aging properties of LSD before, I wonder if Dr Hoffmann's impressive age might be related to his occasional use of the compound. Many hardcore trippers I knew seemed to have very youthful complexions & not to age much. On the other hand, they had toxic residual schizophrenia.

  • . that's a microdot
  • A micro moment of silence... that lasts forever.
  • Roryk FTW!
  • A RIP thread for someone that actually had a direct impact on my life. 102 is a nice ripe age to bid farewell. I didn't realize that he was that "old". “I go back to where I came from, to where I was before I was born, that’s all.” .
  • so true, so true:
He remained convinced that the drug had the potential to counter the psychological problems induced by “materialism, alienation from nature through industrialisation and increasing urbanisation, lack of satisfaction in professional employment in a mechanised, lifeless working world, ennui and purposelessness in wealthy, saturated society, and lack of a religious, nurturing, and meaningful philosophical foundation of life”.
  • Of course, that's why it's illegal. On the other hand, they had toxic residual schizophrenia *wonders about the choice of a short, shortchanged life and a long bout with madness*
  • to borrow a line from "Yellow Submarine," as I have once previously: "The world isn't blue anymore."
  • *wonders about the choice of a short, shortchanged life and a long bout with madness* *wonders about false dichotomies*
  • Bon Voyage, Dr. H.
  • Thank you, Herr Hoffman. I owe you a lot.
  • Bless you.
