February 29, 2008
Today is the fifth Friday in February.
It only happens once every 28 years, so get it on while you can.
-
Jeez -- Fairfax, California? Not that I don't need to get away from winter for a few days, but I don't think Old Man Mastercard would be very happy with me for going... That said, I will toast your fifth Friday in February tonight with a fresh Coup de Grisou, my first in over a year. Proost!
-
I'm here!
-
I hate leap days (and leap years) because they make me wait an extra day for my birthday.
-
This post would have been better had it been time-stamped 02:29. Run for the hills! Februrary 2012 will have 5 hump days!!
-
You know what I just found out? Part of the reason the calendar was so fucked up for so long is that the Romans didn't even bother with months during winter at all. They were just like "fuck it, it's cold, we're just going to stay in till it's warm." It's like the equivalent of unplugging your phone on your days off.
-
that sounds good to me, frankly.
-
So that means 5x the the normal Friday Slack
-
So I'm the only one here not on drugs? It's like I'm back in rez...
-
Oh -- jeez -- next thread over.
-
Wait, there's drugs on the filter? Goddammit, how come nobody *ever* invites me?
-
It's already Saturday here. I don't have time for extra Fridays!
-
Dave's not here, man...
-
The Fifth Friday in February in Fairfax? Love the alliteration!
-
The Fifth Friday in February in Fairfax is Fucking Filthy. So, yes, a-litter-atin' is a problem.
-
I'm six today!
-
Though not by New Zealand time anymore, apparently. Hmm.
-
For such a beastly month as February, twenty-eight days as a rule are plenty.
-
I have to say, the people who created leap days must not have thought about all the people who'd be born on that day. Poor them.
-
A paradox! A paradox!
-
Pmdboi, are you a Leapin'Baybe? Congratulations!!
-
So, I thought about this for a minute while looking at my calendar. If it is a leap year, Feb starts and ends on the same day of the week. There will be five of that day of the week in a leap year February, no matter which day it is. Leap years happen every 4 years. There are 7 days in the week, 7 x 4 = 28 years to hit all the days in the week. q.e.d. Thanks for pointing this out, I love number spinning like that!
