Le site de l´architecture ferroviaire A railway architecture site, featuring photos and descriptions of hundreds of railway stations in France and abroad.

There are several slideshows, and also clickable maps to view different parts of the hexagon. The full list is quite impressive. Site is in French with a link to babelfish on the main page.

  • Too geeky?
  • "Too Geeky"? Does not compute.
  • No no, not too geeky at all. Beautiful. Thanks! *bookmarks for perusing at leisure*
  • Oooooooh! As usual, the abandoned ones are the most beautiful.
  • Duly bookmarked. Thanks, roryk!
  • Fans of abandoned railway stations are highly encouraged to visit Buffalo Central Terminal, a mighty Art Deco palace that was decommissioned in the 70s, only to be stripped of all fixtures and wiring ripped from the walls to retrieve copper to pay the city tax bill and left open to the elements. There's a real grassroots movement to get it all cleaned up and repaired, but, as usual, there's no money to pay for much beyond weatherproofing. But there's money for the Iraq killing machine... Breaks your heart.
  • Oooh, you can rent it for parties! (But you have to bring your own portable toilets.)
  • Would it be wrong, as a former resident of Buffalo, to say the whole city's a toilet?
  • Buffalo Central looks fantastic.
  • I guess I'm gradually outing myself as a public transport nerd. posted by roryk Now you're FULLY OUT. Good post. Someone should tell this guy that he's lost his kid while he was busy watching the puffing billy.
  • Bookmarked. Thanks, roryk.
