Email Apnea:
Describes the way people hold their breaths, or breathe shallowly, while answering email.
Do you do this? I know I'll be paying more attention to myself tomorrow morning at work as I'm wading through my email. -- via BoingBoing

Interesting, but I think I'm now hyperventilating through over-compensation.
-
I didn't notice myself holding my breath, but -- which is more embarrassing -- apparently I talk to myself or hum very quietly. Good thing I have my own office.
-
I've noticed myself sighing a lot when reading email. I wonder if it's due to breath-holding.

Load of bollocks.

so I'd love to know: who thought to study the way people breathe when they are emailing???

I'm just surprised someone thinks it's abnormal to hold your breath while reading and responding to email. Personally, I often have to resist the urge to duck or cover my eyes with my hands. Sometimes it's all I can do just to open the damned program. Typically I do so while praying for a global EMP to hit - now! - so I don't have to Deal With It.
