Lost in translation
- Stewart Lee (who he? - Ed) on the German sense of humour. A rather good old article from the Grauniad.
-
Heehee! I loved The German Child joke. If anyone wants to check out for themselves what Lee is saying and they don't know any Germans, they can use this service - Rent a German.
-
A Frenchman or Russian could not have written that. It is the German who is so uncourteous to his verbs.
-
Re the German Child joke, isn't there an apocryphal story about Einstein who, when asked why he didn't talk for three years, replied "I didn't have anything to say" - in German, of course.

Adolf Ich Hock In Meinen Bunker in English I'm Sitting In My Bunker From the amazing Walter Moers, author of Rumo And His Miraculous Adventures and The City Of Dreaming Books I am reading the latter right now, and read the former last month and was thoroughly delighted. Moers is a German illustrator and author with a fantastic sense of humor.

And don't miss all the clips of Sechserpack they have on YouTube. German not necessary for a lot of it.
