Carl Warner's luscious foodscapes. More at his site here. Warning: silly Flash site; click on the orange box and then the second suitcase from left to get to the foodscapes. Shamelessly ganked from the Blue because really, EVERYONE needs to see an ocean made out of salmon.

Is anyone having a Giuseppe Arcimboldo tingle? Joost Elffers, eat your heart out!

  • I think my favorite is the broccoli forest. It looks like something out of a fairy tale. BTW, "Cloudy with a chance of meatballs" is one of the best phrases I've ever heard. Sounds like it should be the title of a long-lost Dirk Gently book by Douglas Adams.
  • It IS a book! An awesome book!! Errr, yes, I still read children's books... why do you ask?
  • I saw these on pizdaus last night but of course there was no info posted... good to see the source, thanks speedlime! (And I pretty much ONLY read children's books!)
  • Nice stuff. Reminds me somewhat of minimiam.
  • roryk, yeah, I was thinking that too. Must remember to shower after swimming in the salmon ocean...
  • These are amazing, but Elffers has such a quirky sense of humor. This is my favorite.
  • Those penguins are pretty damn cute. You can't argue with the squee factor of penguins, for sure. And thanks for reminding me of minimiam, roryk! I love that site and I had totally forgotten it. Does it make me a total killjoy that now I'm worrying about all that food being wasted? I wonder if someone ended up eating the salmon ocean.

Hey Speedlime, I'll have to join you in the Kamp Killjoy. I don't know what it is but something bugs me about food not being used for eating. I guess I picture the horrified reactions of a third world citizen who lives in a place where food is still a vital and perhaps hard to obtain necessity marveling at the waste and going WTF!? I also flashed on that Easter Cover of Nat'l Lampoon from the late 70s(?) that featured a chocolate mold (ala a chocolate bunny) of a starving Biafran child complete with distended stomach and protruding ribs with an ostentatious bite taken out of the head. More disturbing than funny. OTOH, the food dioramas are pretty amazing.
