And if a GPS unit told you to jump off the Empire State building, would you? Sheesh!

There was an episode of The Office that involved Michael Scott (the boss played by Steve Carrell) driving his car into a lake in an effort to prove that people make for better salesmen than websites. The GPS told him to turn into the lake. He did so. He then claimed that is what happens when we let computers do our work for us.

when I was young I was always able easily to memorize the important phone numbers in my life. I had really beautiful handwriting too. I couldn't tell you my best friend's phone number today. it's stored in my cell, why would I take the time to know it? I also have a great sense of direction, a good memory for driving directions etc., but I could see that going by the wayside should I ever adopt the GPS-for-grocery-shopping dependency that seems to be increasingly common in our world. I'm pretty sure skynet is about to go online people...
