Curious George Where can I find a filesharing site these days? After Napster closed, I used a couple of different options which then closed. What is used now?

If this is deemed to be inappropriate, then do delete away.

  • I don't use FrostWire because I'm not a pirate. But if I were, I would.
  • It's getting harder to find a good torrent site these days too. Demonoid- RIP Torrentspy- Works fine if you're not American. Pirate's Bay- Fine, until the next raid. I still use Limewire for songs.

  • Limewire is crippled unless you pay the ransom. Frostwire is a free version of the ransomed Limewire.

  • I don't download anymore (I sample music on Amazon and via cds from the excellent local library system), but Soulseek has been recommended to me by many. In spite of the noise made about avoiding copyrighted files, apparently many are still traded there. There's also info out there about using BitTorrent anonymously; whether you do or don't, it's always good to make sure you aren't sharing more than a couple of files at a time. Pull anything that's likely to be a target (recently-released movies, or stuff that hasn't been released yet at all). Apparently and ostensibly, you're more likely to be a legal target if you're sharing more than a couple of files.   • I haven't been smart enough to make bittorrent work on my machine. In the meantime, BearShare works for me.
  • I still miss AudioGalaxy, actually. That was my fave of all of them.
