Queen's (Dr.) Brian May (CBE) is now Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University.
After finally attaining a PhD in astrophysics, the university made Queen guitarist Brian May an Honorary Fellow earlier this year and he now takes over Cherie Booth (aka Mrs Blair) as the university figurehead.

That's fantastic, he's a real star, fleet of foot and nimble of mind. He's able to say "Look, why don't we try again?" and get down to the business of the resurrection of his astrophysics studies. Good on him for trying to enter another world, thumbing his nose at detractors and saying "I'm on my way up". Stick with it Brian, you're approaching the last horizon.

This is completely appropriate since in one sense he's a true academic as there was no reason for him to pick up his studies except for himself. Also, who would you rather have confer your degree upon you when you graduate: Brian May or Linda Blair?
