Decent Guy. The mayor of San Diego takes the high road on gay marriage, and doesn't leave a dry eye in the house. Video, 5.5 minutes.
  • Wow. Powerful stuff.
  • Cool, but why the tears? It's not like he's asking for forgiveness for being the gay.
  • Oh, good man, though I take monkeylion's point. Perhaps he'd got too used to basing his stances on poll returns not on what he felt was right, and was finding it all a bit scary.
  • This post gave me the gay.....
  • Score one for the good guys.
  • If the people lead, the leaders will follow. Most of the time. Let's hope that others realize that it's just as simple as what he said.
  • Is San Diego as conservative as I've heard it rumoured to be? Also, I'm glad he used the phrase "separate but [of course, not] equal" - It needs to be said over and over again that civil unions are not the same as marriage. So long as there is one institution for straight couples and another for gay, it will not be equal.
