Led Zeppelin to Regroup; Play One Show As a tribute to famed record executive Ahmet Ertegun, the legendary and infamous heavy rock band will play together for the first time in 19 years. For US$300 per ticket. via MedFizzlin

Freebird!!

  • In other news, I'm one of the few guitarists alive who knows how to play the opening to "Stairway to Heaven." Wonk comment: There can be no true Zeppelin sans Bonzo! I'd go.
  • I don't think I've ever seen concert footage of theirs that I thought was nearly as good as their albums. Never went to a concert, though. Bit before my time. *smirks*
  • I'd go. And bring Wingo as my date.
  • The money is to go to charity, I should mention. Although $300 per ticket? Heh. Yeah, not bloody loikley! Not even for McCart- well, maybe for ol' Paulie. IF Ringo joins. But that's it! Ya vultures!
  • *digs out circa-1978 'Swan Song' t-shirt* I'm in! Damn t-shir must have shrunk on me...
  • $300 per ticket? Yeah, I'm sure the show will have all the grass roots ambience of a 1970s concert. Thanks for reminding me why modern day arena rock can go fuck itself.
  • Them's Streisand prices!
  • Golly, for $300, I can find me some fine herb and a CD of "Led Zeppelin IV" with change left over, and have a much better time recalling the 70s. Funny thing about them 70s T-shirts, though... mine shrunk too. Must be the fabric.
  • Now I get to go AND keep my 300 bucks! Just hope Fes isn't expecting me to put out. Hands to yourself, buster! I don't care how well you're dressed! I'm saving myself for moooshy.
  • Well, it's been ten years and maybe more since I first set eyes on you. The best years of my life gone by, here I am alone and blue. Some people cry and some people die by the wicked ways of love; But I'll just keep on rollin' along with the grace of the Lord above.
  • The Rain Song is better than Stairway.
  • Isn't.
  • 22,000 seats, 20 million people trying to fill them. Prediction: tour.
  • Hey, I believe in god, man. I've seen him, I've felt his power! He plays drums for Led Zeppelin and his name is John Bonham, baby! oh.
  • Bonzo Jr.'s playing drums? was Phil Collins busy?
  • Phil Collins.. drumming for Zep.. this is a suggestion that might get you hurt! Bonzo didn't need huge gated reverbs to get his sound. Neither does his son.
  • nononononononononononono And HM speaks the truth.
  • Youze guys and your shrunken t-shirts! How come they shrunk mainly over the big belly and love handles?* *So fun to pinch, though *waves lighter
  • Actually I saw Collins play for Clapton in the 1980s and he was just fine, if a bit unvaryingly straightforward (not much in the way of interesting fills, etc.). He was plenty big for Clapton's stuff. But he doesn't have that Bonzo bigness that's so key to the Zeppelin sound.
  • Is this a good place to ask for people to sign my petition for a reunion of Mike + The Mechanics?
  • What rpm said.
  • Unless it's going to look like this, I'm not going.
  • meh
  • What kitfisto said. *adjusts Viking helmet on kitteh, cranks tunes*
  • Hey don't hassle Phil, he's a very good drummer. Unless you're hassling him about the relentless firehose of schlock he abused the radio listening public with in the early to mid eighties. The Rain Song is beautiful, but by the time it explodes and showers down it's bigger than the song itself. Stairway's denouement plows over the listener like a freight train on drugs, unstoppable, charismatic to the core, and quite possibly just. a.k.a. These go to 11
  • Enough drugs and you'll see whatever you want. Aaahh aaahhh aaahh aaaahhhh.
  • *beep* that is illogical.
  • Watch your step or I'll send Gollum and the evil one after you.
  • I'm not worried, I've got four sticks.
  • I can feel them Coming In the air Tonight Oh Lord
  • Rain Song is easily my favorite. I'd pay $300 in a heartbeat just to be able to say I saw them. Don't know where I would be without LZ. Also, cheesy as it may be, that acoustic MTV show they did (Christ, 12 or so years ago???!!!) was really and truly outstanding.
  • i'm a little partial to Fool in the Rain and D'Yer Maker, but they're never gonna play them in concert, and I am not paying $300 to find out. Su-su-su-sudio! Whoa-hoa!
