People, Let Me Get This Off My Chest is a 70-song bootleg album composed entirely of a Mr. P. Stanley's commentary to rabid rock music fans. Sublime / subliminal, it's all good. via The Onion AV Club's 15 Masters of Onstage Banter

AWRIGHT!! ARE YOU READY TO ROCK AND ROLL?!?! DOES ANYBODY HERE LIKE TO GET HIIIIGH?!?! I CAN'T HEAR YOU!! WE Gonna do a song for you now! This is a song about . . ALCOHOOOOOLLL! THANK YOU CLEVELAND/TAMPA/RENO/DETROIT!! WE LOVE YOU!! Ah ha! *snif* Aw man, good times. Good times.

  • Thanks for the referral, but unfortunately, all the links at that old Eye of the Goof post are long dead and I don't have the original MP3 download any more. My favorite bit of stage banter was regurgitated by David Lee Roth at the Whisky a Go Go back in '76: "Here's a song for all you little dreamers out there...it's called....LITTLE DREAMERS!" Duh.
  • Hey, there's a coinkydance. Happy to link, I picked that one from the Googleage because of the characiture which was ruley. Well, you've gotta give Dave a break. I mean his neurons are incarackitated. (here's a link fwiw, for those 80Mb compressed mp3s totalling . . about 80Mb.) OH YEAH!! LEMME HEAR YA!! THANK YOU RICHMOND!
  • Well, you've gotta give Dave a break. As far as I'm concerned, Dave was one of the major reasons why Punk had to happen...;-) Thanks for putting up the download again...how many Mb was that again? Wooooooo!
  • As far as I'm concerned, Dave was one of the major reasons why Punk had to happen It had already happened by the time he came along.
  • I can't believe Ted Nugent didn't make the Onion list. The intro to "Wang Dand Sweet Poontang" is reason enough.
  • Good point. Also I beleive one Mr. J. Lennon should at least get honorable mention. HAMBURG LEMME HEAR YA!!
  • Billy Connolly: Man bantered so much that it took over his whole show.
  • It had already happened by the time he came along. Actually, they both emerged at virtually the same time. Van Halen was gigging around LA and getting ready to go on their first tour at the same time as the first wave of New York punk bands emerged from the CBGB's scene to tour LA. In fact, when I saw them in '76, I had just seen the Ramones and Blondie a week earlier.
  • *seethes* And that's a great moniker, BaliHai. But I'm still seething.
  • Sorry to hear it. What's the cause of all this seething, Cap'n?
  • This is the best FPP in the history of MonkeyFilter.
