Four endangered mountain gorillas were found shot dead inside a national park in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

What's wrong with people...

KOKO SMASH.
-
Why you would want to kill something so beautiful, so very like us...
-
This...argh. So mad. So sad. I mean, what the fucking fuck? Let's move to the Congo and start a poacher-poaching vigilante commune. Who's with me?

too much hurt in the world .

I read somewhere that some guerrilla factions in the DRC had threatened to kill gorillas if they didn't get certain concessions or demands met. essentially holding the world that cares about extremely endangered animals ransom for their "political" ends. or, what smt said, what is wrong with people. sorry I am too lazy to look for a link re that reference and now I am depressed :(
-
I can't even read the link. Just the summary makes me too sad. I'm with tracicle on the vigilante commune, though.
-
Because if there's one place on Earth that deperately needs more people killing people, it's the Congo.
-
Nah, we'll just need their hands. For ashtrays.
-
Even after 10 years of war, rangers are stunned by the mysterious killings of great apes in Africa's oldest park.

Gorilla Slaughter: A Personal Account

That's a disturbing and heartwarming update to this thread. Thanks for the link, h-dogg.

As war breaks out along the border of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, the Virunga National Park, and the gorillas that reside there, become even more endangered... "If anything happens to the mountain gorillas now, there is nothing we can do," said Norbert Mushenzi of the Congolese Institute for the Conservation of Nature (ICCN).
-
Gorillas now 'critically endangered' This is horrible news. However: "We could fit all the remaining great apes in the world into two or three large football stadiums." I really wish they would. Then they could hold gorilla playoffs!!
-
Just don't let FEMA be in charge of crowd control.
-
I for one can't wait to get rid of you all. Quite annoying.

A Big “@&*# You” to Gorilla Poachers
-
Anderson Cooper: This year, in the Congo, the gorillas have been lied to.
-
Former Chief of Virunga National Park, Honore Mashagiro, has been arrested in connection with last year's mountain gorilla executions. Fueled by greed and illegal charcoal trade... *sigh*
-
Some good news from the Congo: More than 100,000 rare gorillas found in Congo
-
Good news in that they exist, bad news in that we now know about it?
-
Yeah, that's along the lines of what I thought too, Capt. Surely, some will take this as a justification for shooting a few here and there...
-
I am a bad person, because I can't help hoping the Congo continues in the state of political chaos which has so singularly preserved so much wildlife. Did you know that gorillas have fingerprints - but chimps don't?
-
*goes to hire chimps for safecracking crew*
-
That is incorrect - all primates have fingerprints, including Chimpanzees.
-
Maybe - my source is the podcast of this programme (not too bad if you can bear the host's jokes). I could throw in this , though I know there are lots of sources which say the opposite.
-
I heard that Radio 4 show too. It never lies. Never. Do you hear me? Never.
-
Depends on how you define fingerprint.
-
It's all a myth of fingerprints. That's why we must learn to live alone.
